  • Pelvic pain, defined as pain that feels like period pain but occurring when not menstruating.
  • Premenstrual Syndrome or PMS, which manifests as symptoms that occur or are more severe in the week before the period.
  • Urinary problems such as frequent urination, getting up at night to pass urine, cystitis, recurrent infections, leaking or prolapse.
  • Post menopausal Bleeding or PMB- defined as any bleeding that occurs again when the periods had been stopped for 12 or more months.
  • Vulvo-vaginal issues such as burning, itching or soreness affecting  the skin of external genital area and /or inside the vagina.
  • Sexual issues such as pain with intercourse.

To be seen in in Bantry Gyanecology clinic, your GP needs to refer you to CUMH Gynaecology service, choose

Dr Aenne Helps  as named consultant and your appointment will be allocated to Bantry.

"No two women are the same and every woman's Menopause  journey is different.

believe that my role is to inform, support and  empower women to make the health choices  that are right for them.

I am currently not seeing patients privately in order to concentrate on my HSE roles.
If that changes, I shall update the website. "

     Patient Testimonials

"For the first time, I met

an empathic and engaged GP

who was interested in ALL my

symptoms and experiences as a

menopausal woman. To be able

to share my experience of menopause

over 10 years with Dr

Stanley helped me understand

the bigger picture myself, and to

understand just what I had been

going through, without much

help and support."

"There is a

lot of misinformation on HRT,

which I feel Dr. Stanley clarified

for me. Also, she has a better

understanding I feel than some

GPs would have when dealing

with a woman as an individual.

The service is a great advantage

for women in West Cork."

"Age 64, it was very important

for me to see someone in my

female predicament, I needed a

pessary fitted. We so need GPs

dedicated to women's health, at

all ages. Thank you Dr. Paula

Stanley."
